Minister Giddings Leads Inspection Tour to Bong County, Reaffirms Government's Infrastructure Commitment

Minister of Public Works Roland Layfette Giddings led an inspection tour to Bong County, traveling from Sanoyea to Phebe Johnson in Gbarnga City, where he and his team assessed the quality of ongoing rehabilitation works along the stretch between Sanoyea and Phebe Junction. 

 

The visit underscored the government's growing focus on improving road infrastructure across the country.

 

Speaking to local journalists during the tour, Minister Giddings revealed that the administration of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai remains firmly committed to infrastructure development and has made a strategic decision to pave city streets across Liberia. 

 

Bong County is among several counties earmarked to benefit from the initiative, signaling a broader national push to modernize urban road networks.

 

The Minister further announced that a team from the Ministry of Public Works will be dispatched to Gbarnga City as early as next week to begin a comprehensive investigation of all alleys and Rights of Way (ROW) within the city. 

 

The team will be responsible for identifying, surveying, and notifying property owners who are encroaching on designated corridors. Minister Giddings was emphatic that the alley-opening exercise will be conducted without favoritism, stressing that no individual or institution will receive preferential treatment in the process.

 

In addition to road assessments, the Minister and his team conducted a site inspection at the Jor River in the Jorkpemue Community, which serves as a critical link along the Lofa road connecting Konie River, Coperta, and Divadta. The visit was aimed at evaluating the feasibility of constructing bridges in the area, a development that would greatly improve the mobility and convenience of residents in those communities.

Rounding off his visit, Minister Giddings stopped at the Athletic Intellectual Center in Gbarnga, where he engaged directly with citizens to listen to their development concerns and address any misconceptions they may have had about ongoing and planned government projects. The grassroots interaction was seen as a positive gesture of transparency and responsiveness from the Ministry as it works to deliver on the Boakai administration's infrastructure promises.
