
Buildup to Historic Groundbreaking of Overpass Bridges
The Ministry of Public Works through its Special Project Implementation Team (SPIT) and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), in collaboration with the Liberia National Police (LNP) conducted a comprehensive on-site tour on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 for the Two China-Aid Overpass Bridges along the Tubman Boulevard.
The Tour was part of ongoing preparations for the Official Groundbreaking of the overpass bridges which are intended to ease traffic congestion, improve road safety and enhance the overall flow of transportation along one of Monrovia’s busiest corridors.
The Tour brought together the Chief of Traffic and Technical Team of the Liberia National Police, the China Road and Bridge Corporation and the Ministry’s Special Project Implementation Team along with the Assistant Minister for Design and Supervision, John Zoegar.
The LNP Chief of Traffic, Alphanso Bindah reaffirmed the police’s commitment to partnering with MPW and CRBC in ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow throughout the construction period.
The Contractor CRBC is working in sync with the Ministry of Public Works and LNP as regards appropriate traffic management plan aimed at safeguarding local communities and the environment which are integral towards a successful project implementation.
According to the Coordinator of the Special Project Implementation Team Mr. Immanuel Freeman, the Joint Exercise underscores the Ministry of Public Works’ proactive approach in preparing for the Groundbreaking of Liberia’s first-ever overpass bridges.
By engaging the Liberia National Police, the Ministry is laying the groundwork for safe, orderly and public-conscious execution of this landmark infrastructure project, thereby reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to advancing Liberia’s infrastructure development agenda under the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai by assuring the public of continued progress toward modern, reliable and safe road networks.
