Minister Roland Layfette Giddings Leads Liberia’s Delegation To Ivory Coast To Attend The Annual General Meeting of The Africa Road Maintenance Fund Association
The Africa Road Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA) on May 13, 2024, commenced its 21st General Assembly. The four day event brings together over 255 delegates to include road fund managers, diplomats, international press, engineers, foreign business (technical and financial) worldwide representing 35 countries to discuss sustainable funding, innovation in revenue generation, strengthening administrative structures by non-politicizing the fund, and sharing knowledge and experience on best practices.
The delegation from Liberia is led by the Minister of Public Works, Roland Layfette Giddings as Chairman of the IMSC, accompanied by the Manager of the Road Fund, Mrs. Joseta Neufville-Wento, Senator Francis Dopoh, and Mr. John H. Tokpah, Administrator, National Road Fund.
During the opening ceremony, the Governor of Abidjan graced the event and urged technicians to create a beautiful Africa, referencing the progress Ivory Coast has made and continues to make in beautification of their city to attract tourism.
Discussions continue on road safety, pavement protection, and the introduction of the axel load control systems and toll. Road funds across Africa are encouraged to utilize “Public Private Partnership” to improve the quality of roads and bridges.
The conference is expected to close on May 16, 2024. During this time, the organizers have arranged some technical field visits for the delegates.
