Public Works Minister Inspects Road Projects in Montserrado
Monrovia, Liberia, April 1, 2025: Minister of Public Works Roland Layfette Giddings, accompanied by a team from the Ministry, conducted an inspection tour of ongoing road projects in Montserrado County. The tour covered key roadways, including the Lakpazee Zoo Road, Chicken Soup Factory Road, Dixville Road, and Tweh Farm Junction-New Kru Town, among others. The team also assessed the VOA Road and a newly proposed detour that aims to alleviate congestion along the Duala corridor by diverting traffic behind the Beer Factory.
During the tour, Minister Giddings expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects, highlighting the contractors' ability to adhere to project details. He noted that their commitment to precision was evident in the quality of work being delivered on the ground. "It is encouraging to see the contractors sticking to the details, and this is manifesting in the practical work," he remarked. His comments reinforced the government’s commitment to ensuring that infrastructure projects meet required standards and deadlines.
The road projects are expected to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion in some of Montserrado’s busiest areas. The Duala detour, in particular, is seen as a strategic move to reduce bottlenecks in the area, which has long been plagued by traffic jams. Residents and commuters have welcomed the initiative, noting that better roads will enhance economic activities and improve daily travel experiences.
The Ministry of Public Works has assured the public of continuous monitoring and engagement with contractors to ensure timely completion of the projects. Minister Giddings reaffirmed that the government remains committed to infrastructure development as a means of driving economic growth and improving citizens’ quality of life.
