Representatives of the Kuwaiti Fund and the Government of Liberia meet to advance discussions on securing USD 77 million for the Salayea-Konia Road Project.

Kuwait Fund to Lead Efforts in Securing Funding for Key Road Corridor in Liberia

The Kuwaiti Fund has agreed, in collaboration with the funding consortium, to take the lead in securing the remaining financing for the Salayea-Konia-Barzewan-Voinjama Road corridor, spanning 81 km. As part of this effort, the Government of Liberia is expected to submit an official funding request for the pavement of this strategic road segment.

The Kuwaiti Fund will spearhead efforts to mobilize USD 77 million to finance the 50 km Salayea-Konia Phase One component. This funding will also support the completion of the second layer of asphalt on the previously constructed 81 km Gbarnga-Salayea Road corridor.

The Government of Liberia is anticipated to submit its formal request to the funding consortium soonest. Further discussions are scheduled to take place on the margins of the Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C., at the end of April 2025.
