Ministry of Public Works, Monrovia City Corporation Collaborate to Remove Makeshift Structures From the City Center

—Aims at Beautification & Orderliness

Monrovia, Liberia, April 2, 2025: In a bid to enhance the city’s appearance, the Ministry of Public Works and the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) have launched a joint effort to remove makeshift structures from the city center.

Public Works Minister Giddings emphasized that the move aims to give Monrovia a facelift, ensuring that only city-worthy structures remain.

Meanwhile, in a comment buttressing Minister Giddings, Mayor Shafa urged petty traders to register with the city government for proper placement in designated areas. He warned that blocking sidewalks is unacceptable, as it hinders pedestrian movement, especially for people living with disabilities.

The crackdown signals a push for better urban organization and accessibility in Liberia’s capital.
